Bad reaction to shots & 3 and 4 year old check ups

The girls both had their check ups on Tuesday. Avalynn had her 3 year old check. She is in the 50th percentile for her height and weight. They tried to check her eyes and ears but she didn't really understand what to do. The Nurse Practitioner is helping us get someone to check her speech. She talks a lot but most people don't understand what she is saying. Kevin and I understand most of what she wants and Gabby always seems to know. She is our little translator and can tell us what Avalynn wants. After the appointment Avalynn had to go get more blood draw as a recheck for the infection she had in her lymph nodes. I called yesterday to check on it and all of her counts are back to normal so that is a relief!

Gabby had her 4 year check up. She is in the 85% for her height and weight. They were able to check her eyes and ears and both were perfect. She had to get two shots. One in each arm. She was so brave and didn't cry at all! This is the first time she has ever been so brave about it! She did so good. But ever since she got them she has been complaining that her arm hurts. I thought they were probably just sore from the shots but didn't think too much of it. This afternoon I noticed that her arm is really red and swollen! I took her into the doctor and she said she had a localized allergic reaction. Gabby has to take some benedryl and we have to put cortizone cream on it. Poor girl. :( Luckily for her she doesn't need any more until she is older. I will not be getting that shot for the other kids. It was called DtaP.
